I'm going to assume it was the first "comedy" take of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide. As for connections, it was a comedy that's also been done a couple of different times. (the remake with Eddy Murphy) as well as Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Hide, probably others as well.
